Normally I would have rather have hacked me head off with a teaspoon.
But the Pub Column was caught off guard when Lady Penelope of Pensby made a request recently to which Yours Truly readily agreed.
IF YOU’RE a Red and you’re not going to the European Cup Final in Athens, the most likely place to be watching the game is down the pub.
Mein hosts and hostesses are bracing themselves for a Wednesday night of (hopefully) good-natured mayhem to surpass even that of two years ago and Liverpool’s comeback of all time against AC Milan.
SOMEWHERE along the way, the British lost the art for mixing good ale with fine food.
Like those mysterious human senses of survival in the wild which have evaporated since getting used to the closeted urban environment, our appreciation of ale and nosh has disappeared in a welter of cheese and wine parties and snooty sniffs from the chattering classes.
Sometimes I imagine myself as that bloke in the brilliant “Boom chicka chicka wah wah� Lynx deoderant advert standing in his vest and and undies with the saucy minx bumping and grinding before him
But instead of declaring “I love your country� the words “I love this city� spring out.
